Young planners tend to love mixed-modal transport and rail is kind of 'our thing'. This has resulted in strong opinions on how the Queensland Government should go about delivering their highest priority infrastructure project - Cross River Rail. This region-shaping project will have broad and localised impacts across South East Queensland. However it all plays out, it will undoubtedly play a significant role in the future of Brisbane as we strive to become a New World City. It is setting the trajectory for the future prosperity of the region and to draw on Obama -
"Sometimes the task of government is to make incremental improvements or try to steer the ocean liner two degrees north or south so that, then years from now, suddenly we're in a very different place than we were."
The QYP Policy and Advocacy Committee recently submitted our take on the Cross River Rail Request for Project Change (Request for Change). The full submission is available here.
QYP would like to extend our thanks to the QYP Policy and Advocacy Sub-Committee Lead, Ciaran Callaghan and the QYP Convenor, Jess Crane. We would also like to acknowledge QYP Committee members Daniel Martiri, Cherie Josephson and Marissa Bais for their work is preparing this submission.
