On the 2nd March, QYP held a joint event with the Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning (DILGP) focused on the draft South East Queensland Regional Plan ‘ShapingSEQ’. Held at QUT Gardens Point, the event involved informative and engaging presentations from Greg Vann and Kerry Riethmuller, both key members of the DILGP Regional Planning Team. The event also involved a presentation from QYP committee members, Ciaran Callaghan and Dirk Van Der Kamp, who presented their thoughts on ShapingSEQ from the perspective of a Young Planner.
The event was concluded by a panel discussion where attendees were able to ask the presenters questions, leading to an open and robust discussion around ShapingSEQ and the future of the region.
QYP have a strong interest in ensuring young planners are provided with an opportunity to engage with industry leaders and learn about emerging planning policy from those central to policy creation and development. Events like this play a key role in turning this interest into a reality and we thank DILGP for their involvement and engagement with QYP. We also thank QUT for hosting the event and all those who came along on the night!
